What is electrical conductivity in ionic solids due to ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Ionic solids when dissolved in some polar soluent like water or in molten state conduct electricity. This electrical conduction is due to the presence of cations and anions in ionic compounds which magrate toward oppositely charged electrodes under the influence of applied electric field.
