Fries Rearrangament Phenol when treated with acetyl chloride gives phenyl acetate This when heated in the presence of anhyd . Of anhyd . `AlCl_(3)` rearrange to o- and p- hydroxyacetophenone . This rearrangement is called Fries rearrangement .
