Primary and secondary structures of a protein.
(i) Primary structure. The sequence in which various amino acids are arranged into a protein is called the primary structure. The amino acid sequence of a protein determines its functions and is critical of its biological activity
(ii) Secondary structure. The secondary structure gives the manner in which the protein chain is folded. It arises from the planar geometry of the peptide bond and the H-bond between one region of the back bone to another.
