Why should not medicines be taken without consulting doctors ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Almost every drug has some side-effects. These side-effects are caused when a drug binds to more that one receptor site. Therefore, a doctor must be consulted to choose the right drug which has the maximum affinity for a particular receptor site to have the desired effect. Further, dose of the drug is also very important. This is because some drugs, used as medicines, when taken in doses, higher than those recommended, can act as potential poisons and may even cause death.
