What are differences between preservatives and antioxidants ?

Preservatives prevents the spoilage of food for long period by killing the microbes present in the food. These microbes if allowed to multiply will stoil the food. Common Preservatives are sodium berzoate, potassium metabisulphite etc. Antioxidants also prevents the oxidation of oils and fats by atmospheric oxygen. Common antioxidants are butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydrox toluene. (BHT)
