Succulents are plants which are adapted to the xerophytic conditions . They store water mucilage in then e.g Opunita. The leaves and reduced to spines . Stem becomes green and performs photosynthesis. They show CAM cycles and open their stomata at night and keep them closed during day time to minimise transpiration. They also have thick cuticle and sunken stomata to minimise loss of water through transpiration.
