Energy flow in an ecosystem. The study of transfer of energy in different trophic levels is known as Bioenergies
The flow of energy can be studied as:-
(i) energy flow is unidirectional i.e, from producers to secondary consumers and not back
(ii) With each and every trophic level , energy goes on decreasing i.e., energy of the producers `gt` primary consumers `gt` secondary consumers `gt` tertiary consumers . According to Lindemann: Only 10% of total energy received by one trophic level is transferred to next trophic level
Only 1-4% of total solar energy is utilised by plants for photosynthesis , Rest is reflected back, absorbed by water, atmosphere and ground.
