Explain what is meant by species diversity.

Explanation

Existence of wide variety in numbers and richness of species or other taxa of plants,animals and microorganisms,in a natural community or habitat.Two important measures of species diversity are-
(i) Species richness refers to the number of different species present per unit area.
(ii) Species eveness refers to the relatives abundances with which each species ois represented in area . The western ghats have a greater diversity of the amphibian species than Eastern ghats.
