Sacred groves the large number of trees and wild life which are protected due to religious sanctity and cultural traditions. Sacred groves are found in khasi and jaintia hills of meghalaya, aravalli hills of rajasthan, western ghat regions of kamataka and maharashtra and the sanguja, chanda and bastar areas of M.P.Role. the sacred groves are the last refuges for a large number of rare and threatened plants and the conservation is the desirable approach to save their extinction. it helps in maintaining viable populations of all native species as well as conserve the genetic diversity of all the present species.
