Extinction processes :
1. Natural extinction. With the change in environmental conditions, some species disappear and others, which are more adapted to changed conditions, take their place. This loss of species is called natural or background extinction which occurred at a very slow rate.
2. Mass extinctio. there have been several episodes where a large number of plants and animals have become extinct over a relatively short span of time. the most recent mass extinction occurred about 60 million years ago where dinosaurs suddenly came to an end.
3. Anthropogenic extinction. it is man- made extinction where an increasing number of species disappear due to human activities. this extinction causes depletion of biodiversty because it occurs within a short period of time.
