Two trains, which are moving along different tracks in opposite directions, are put on the same track due to a mistake. Their drivers, on noticing the mistake, start slowing down the trains when the trains are 300 m apart. Graphs given in figure show their velocities as function of time as the trains slow down. The separation between the trains when both have stopped is

A

120 m

B

280 m

C

60 m

D

20 m

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The correct Answer is:
D

Distance covered by :
train I `=("Area of "Delta)_("train I")=200 m`
train II `=("Area of "Delta)_("train II")=80 m`
So the seperation `=300-(200+80)=20 m`

Wind is blowing west to east along twoparallelracs. Two trais moving with the same speed in opposite directions on these tracks have the steam tracks. If one stream track isdouble than the other, what is the speed of each train ?

Two toy trains each of mass 'M' are moving in opposite directions with velocities v_1 and v_2 over two smooth rails. Two stuntmen of mass 'm' each are also moving with the trains (at rest w.r.t. trains). When trains are opposite to each other the stuntmen interchange their positions, then find the final velocities of the trains.

Two trains take 3s to pass another when going in the opposite directions but only 2.5s if the speed of one is increased by 50% . The time one would take to pass the other when going in the same direction at their original speed is

Two trains are approaching each other on the same track with velocity 100 km/h and 50 km/h. When they are at a distance of 300 km from each other, a bird starts flying from train 1 towards train 2. When the bird reaches train 2, it instantly reverses its direction and flies again towards train 1. This process continues till the bird is trapped between the trains when they collide. If the bird always travels at a constant speed 200 km/h, the total distance the bird flies is:

Two trains P and Q are moving along parllel tracks same uniform speed of 20 m s^(-1) . The driver of train P decides to overtake train Q and accelerate his frain by 1 ms^(-2) , After 50 s , train P crosses the engine of train Q . Find out what was the distance between the two trains initially. provided the length each is 400 m .

A bird files between two trains approaching each other with constant speed of 10 m/s each. Trains are initially 1 km apart. The bird starts from the first train and as it arrives just in front of the other train it turns and continues the same process. The average velocity of the bird till it is sandwiched between the trains is:

The driver of a train moving at 72 km h^(-1) sights another train moving at 4 ms^(-1) on the same track and in the same direction. He instantly applies brakes to produces a retardation of 1 ms^(-2) . The minimum distance between the trains so that no collision occurs is

Two balls of the same size but different matetials, rubber and iron are kept on the smooth floor of a moving train. The brakers are applied suddenly to stop the train . Will the balls start rolling? If so, in which direction? Will they move with the same speed? Give reasons for your answers.
