Whether the diffraction effects from a slit will be more clearly visible or less clearly, if the slit-width is increased ?

Text Solution

The correct Answer is:
The diffraction effect will be less clearly visible. This is due to the fact that on increasing the slit width there will be less spread of waves after passing through the slit, hence waves would overlap upto certain extent and produce a diffraction pattern clearly less visible.
