Adsorption is an exothermic process. Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Adsorption is accompanied by decrease in residual forces on the surface of the adsorbent and hence, surface energy decreases. This energy comes in the form of heat and called heat of adsorption. So, adsorption is always exothermic in nature.
