Explain Bredig's Arc method by suitable diagram.

Bredig.s Arc method is used to prepare colloidal solution of metals. This method involves passing of electric current through electrodes made up of metals whose solutions are to be prepared. In this, dispersion medium is kept cooled by surrounding it with ice bath. Now electric arc is struck between the electrodes of metal. The large amount of heat produced vapourise the metal and condense to form particles of colloidal size. The process is shown in figure :
