Give reason : Bleeding from a fresh cut can be stopped by applying alum.

Blood has negatively charged colloidal particles. It is coagulated by positive ions. Now in alum there is presence of positively charged ions that are responsible for the coagulation of blood i.e. to stop bleeding.
