Emulsions : When both dispersed phase and dispersion medium are liquids in a colloidal solution, then such type of colloidal solutions are called emulsions. Here, dispersed phase and dispersion medium are inert.
Types of emulsions
i) Oil in water emulsions
In this type of emulsions, oil acts as dispersed phase and water acts as dispersion medium. For example, vanishing cream.
ii) Water in oil emulsions In this type of emulsions, water acts as dispersed phase and oil acts as dispersion medium. For example, butter, cold cream.
