Aluminothermy is the process in which metal oxide is reduced to metal with the help of aluminium powder as a reducing agent. It is also known as Goldschmidt thermite process.
For example, `Cr_2O_3 + 2Al to Al_2O_3 + 2Cr`
`3Mn_3O_4 + 8Al to 4Al_2 O_3 + 9Mn`
