Explain why transition elements have high melting and boiling points ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

In transition elements, there are stronger interactions of electrons in partly filled d-subshells. The more the number of unpaired electrons, the stronger will be the bonding. Hence, due to stronger binding forces, transition elements have high melting and high boiling point.
