f-block elements are known as inner transition elements, Electronic configuration of transition elements is `(n-1)d^(1-10) ns^(1//2)` . But in inner transition elements E.C. is `(n-2)f^( 1-14) (n-1)d^(0-1) ns^(0-2)` i.e in transition elements the last electron enters d- orbital of penultimate (n-1) shell while in inner transition elements the last electron enters the outer penultimate (n-2) shell.
