What are biodegradable and non-biodegradable detergents ?

Biodegradable detergents are those which can be easily decomposed by micro-organisms. They have generally straight hydrocarbon chain. For example, sodium lauryl sulphate.
Non-biodegradable detergents are those detergents which cannot be degraded or decomposed easily by micro organisms. They have generally branched hydrocarbon chain. For example, Cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide.
