We are given that
(i) Percentage composition of C= 40.68
Percentage composition of `H_(2)= 5.085`
Percentage composition of `O_(2)= 54.22`
(ii) Vapour density of compound = 59
We are to find out the following
(a) Empirical formula and empirical formula mass
(b) Molecular formula and molecular formula mass.
Calculations
(i) Calculation of empirical formula and empirical formula mass.

So, empirical formula `= C_(20H_(3)O_(2)`
Empirical formula mass `=2 xx 12 +3 xx 1+ 2xx 16= 59`
(ii) Calculation of molecular formula and molecular formula mass We know that, Molecular formula mass `=2xx` varpour density `=2 xx 59= 118`
Using the relation `n= ("Molecular formula mass")/("Empirical formula mass") = (118)/(59)=2`
`therefore` Molecular formula `=2 xx (C_(2)H_(3)O_(2))= C_(4)H_(6)O_(4)`
