Calcium carbonate reacts with aqueous HC...

Calcium carbonate reacts with aqueous HCl to give `CaCl_(2) and CO_(2)` according to the reaction, `CaCO_(3) (s) + 2HCl(aq)rarr CaCl_(2) (aq) + CO_(2)(g) + H_(2)O(l)`
What mass of `CaCO_(3)` is required to react completely wth 25mL of 0.75 M HCl?

`underset(100g)(CaCO_(3)) + underset(2mol)(2HCl) rarr CaCl_(2) + CO_(2) + H_(2)O`
2 mol of HCl combines with `CaCO_(3)= 100`
0.75 combines with `CaCO_(3)= (100)/(2) xx 0.75`
`=(100)/(2) xx (75)/(100)= 37.5g`
0.75M means 0.75 moles are dissolved in 1000mL of solvent. i.e., 37.5 g are dissolved in 1000mL of solvent.
or 1000mL of solvent combines with `CaCO_(3)= 37.5g`
or 25mL of solvent combines with `CaCO_(3)= (37.5)/(1000) xx 25= (37.5)/(40)= (375)/(400)= 0.94g`
Thus 0.94g of `CaCO_(3)` reacts with 25mL of 0.75M HCl
