Define work function of metal and photoelectric effect.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Photoelectric effect is the phenomenon of ejection of electrons from the surface of a metal when light of suitable frequency strikes on it. The ejected electrons are called photoelectrons. Caesium shows this effect more easily due to low ionisation enthalpy.
