What is the maximum number of emission lines when the excited electron of H atom in n = 6 drops to the ground state ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We are given that e jumps from n=6 level.
We are to find out the maximum number of emission lines. We know that,
Number of emission lines `= ( n ( n -1))/(2)= ( 6 ( 6 -1))/(2) = 3 (5) = 15.`
So, number of emission lines is 15.
