Density of a gas is found to be 5.46 g//...

Density of a gas is found to be 5.46 `g//dm^(3)` at `27^(@)C` at 2 bar pressure. What will be its density at STP?

Text Solution

We are given that
Density `d=5.46 g//dm^(3)`
`T=27^(@)C =273 +27=300K`
p=2 bar.
We are to calculate the density at STP.
We knwo that, `d=(PM)/(RT)=(2xxM)/(R xx 300)" " ...(i)`
`d_(STP) =(1 xx M)/(R xx 273)" " ...(ii)`
Dividing (i) by (ii) we get
`(d)/(d_("STP))=(2xxM xx R xx 273)/(R xx 300 xx 1 xx M) = (5.46)/(d_(STP))=(546)/(300)`
`d_("STP")=3g//dm^(3)`
