What is meant by Boyle's temperature or Boyle's point?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Real gases can behave ideally at high temperature and low pressure. As the temperature of real gases start increasing, it tends to reach the ideality. At a particular temperature, these real gases behave like ideal gases. This temperature is called Boyle.s temperature. It is called Boyle.s temperaturs .because at this temperature real gases obey the Boyle.s law.
For gases which deviate from ideality, value of Z deviates from unity.
At low pressure, `Z~~1" "` At high pressure, `Z gt 1`
At intermediate pressure, `Z lt 1`.
