How does the viscosity of a liquid vary with temperature?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Effect of temperature : With the increase in temperature, the viscosity of a liquid decreases. This is because resistance depends upon the intermolecular forces between the molecules. Rise in temperature decreases the magnitude of intermolecular forces and hence viscosity decreases.
So, viscosity `prop (1)/("temperature")`
