A liquid is equilibrium with its vapours...

A liquid is equilibrium with its vapours in a sealed container at a fixed temperature. The volume of the container suddenly increased.
What happens when equilibrium is restored finally and what will be the final vapour pressure.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

When the rate of forward and backward reaction become equal, equilibrium will be attained. However, the vapor pressure will remain unchanged because it depends upon the temperature and not upon the volume of container.
