Define oxidising agent and reducing agent on the basis of oxidation number concept.

Oxidising agent : A reagent which increases the oxidation number of other substance in a given reaction is called oxidising agent.
Reducing agent : A reagent which decreases the oxidation number of other substance in a given reaction is called reducing agent.

In this reaction, Al acts as a reducing agent and `MnO_(2)` acts as an oxidising agent.
