Can you store silver ions solution in copper vessel ? Whyor why not ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

No, we cannot store 1M `AgNO_(3)` solution in a copper vessel, because Cu is more reactive than Ag. In this, chemical reaction will results in slow eating up (corrosion) of the copper vessel.
`Cu(s) + Ag^(2+) (aq) rarr Cu^(2+) (aq) + Ag(s)`
