Boron trifluoride can easily reacts with `NH_(3)`. Explain why?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Boron trifluoride being electron deficient, is a strong lewis acid. `NH_(3)` acts as a lewis base having one lone pair of electrons. BF, easily accepts a lone pair of electrons from ammonia to form `BF_(3),NH_(3)` complex.
