Diborane `(B_(2)H_(6))` is prepared by following methods:
(i) By treating boron trifluoride with `LiAlH_(4)` in diethyl ether.
`4BF_(3) + 3LiAH_(4) overset("Diethylether") to 2B_(2)H_(6) + 3LiF + 3AlF_(3)`
(ii) By oxidation of sodium borohydride with iodine
`2NaBH_(4) + I_(2) overset("Polyether") to B_(2)H_(6)+2NAl + H_(2)`
(iii) By reaction of `BF_(3)` with sodium hydride .
`2BF_(3) + 6NaH overset(450K) to B_(2)H_(6) + 6NaF`
