What is dry ice ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Solid carbon dioxide is known as dry ice. It can be easily liquefied under a pressure of 50 to 60 atmosphere at room temperature. When liquefied carbon dioxide is allowed to evaporate, it changes to solid. It looks like ice and does not wet a piece of cloth or paper. Therefore, it is known as dry ice.
