Silicates: Silicates are the compounds of silicon and oxygen. Silicates occur in the earth.s crust in the form of numerous silicate minerals and alumino silicate clay. Some of the examples are feldspar, zeolites, mica and asbestos.
Structure : The basic structural unit of silicate is `SiO_(4)^(4-)` . In this, silicon atom is bonded to four oxygen atoms in tetrahedral manner.
