What are the effects of photochemical smog? How can it be controlled ?

The effects of photochemical smog are as follows:
i) The concentration of ozone, peroxyacylnitrates (PAN), aldehydes and ketones found in the smog are eyes irritants.
ii) Photochemical smog contains `NO_2` and hydrocarbons. The brown colour of `NO_2` reduces visibility.
iii) Ozone produced by smog causes problem to the respiratory mucous system.
Control of photochemical smog : Photochemical smog can be controlled by the following methods :
i) By using catalytic converters in the automobiles. It prevents the emission of nitrogen oxide and hydrocarbons to the atmosphere.
ii) By spraying certain compounds into the atmosphere, free radicals are released. These free radicals combine with the toxic compounds existing in smog. In this way ill effects of photochemical smog may be minimised.
