The causes of water pollution are given below:
i) Pathogens
The major water polluting pollutants are pathogens. These include bacteria, virus and other organisms coming from sewage and animal excreta.
ii) Domestic sewage
The domestic sewage includes oils, human excreta, dissolved materials like soaps, detergents and dirt etc. They enter the water and make it polluted.
ii) Industrial wastes
Industrial wastes may contain organic and inorganic particles. By adding these wastes into the water, they make water polluted .
