We are given: `F_(1) = 8N, F_(2)=6 N` and mass, m = 5 kg.
We are to calculate: Magnitude and direction of acceleration of body.
We know that, the magnitude of the resultant force acting on body is

`F= sqrt((F_(1))^(2)+ (F_(2))^(2)+ 2F_(1)F_(2)costheta)`
`F= sqrt(F_(1)^(2)+F_(2)^(2)) = sqrt((8)^(2)+ (6)^(2))[:. theta= 90^(@)]`
`= sqrt(64+ 36)= sqrt(100)`
F= 10N
so ` a= (F)/(m)= (10)/(5)=2ms^(-2)`
If F makes angle with the direction of `F_(1)`, then `cos theta = (F_(1))/(F)= (8)/(10)= 0.8`
`implies theta= 36.87^(@)`
