Show that a heavier body having the same velocity as that of lighter body, possesses more momentum.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Let two bodies have masses m and M such that M> m having velocities equal to v. We know that momentum mass `xx` velocity `implies p= mv`. So for bodies having equal velocities, momentum is directly proportional to mass of body. Therefore body with mass M will have more momentum than body of mass m.
