Moon has no atmosphere because escape velocity on surface of moon is very low. Also the root mean square velocity of molecules of different gases is very large as compared to escape velocity. So most of the gas molecules are able to attain this escape velocity. That is why gas molecules escape out of the gravitational pull of the moon.
