Explain why small liquid drops are spherical in shape but big drops are flat ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

The spherical shape of the liquid drops is due to the surface tension. When drop is small, surface tension is large as compared to weight of drop. But when the size of drop increas its weight also increases. As a result of this, weight is more than the surface tension. Hence, drops are flat.
