State and explain :
Raoult's law for volatile solute.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

At a given temperature, for a solution of volatile liquids the partial vapour pressure of each component in solution is equal to the product of the vapour pressure of the pure component `(P^0)` and its mole fraction(x).
Let A solvent and B is solute component `P_("solution") = P_A + P_B` (Total pressure of solution)
`= P_(A)^@x_A+P_B^@x_B`
