The Catalysis in which the state of catalyst is in same phase as the reactants is called homogeneous catalysis. For e.g.
`2SO_(2)(g) + O_(2)(g) overset(NO(g))hArr 2SO_(3)(g)`
The catalysis in which the catalyst is in different phase, than that of the reactants is called heterogeneous catalysis. For e.g.
`2SO_(2)(g) + O_(2)(g) overset(V_(2)O_(5)(s))hArr 2SO_(3)(g)`
