It is a secondary cells each battery consists of a number of voltaic cells connected in series. Anode: The anode is a rid of lead packed with finely divided spongy lead (Pb)
Cathode: Cathode is a grid of lead packed with `PbO_(2)`.
Reactions:
Anode: The lead loses two electrons and is oxidised to `Pb^(2+)` ions
`Pb(S) rarr Pb^(2+) (aq) + 2e^(-)`
`Pb^(2+) (aq)+ SO_(4)^(2-) (aq) rarr PbSO_(4)(s)`
Overall Reaction is: `Pb + SO_(4)^(2-) (aq) rarr PbSO_(4) (s) + 2e^(-)`
At cathode : The `PbO_(2)` is reduced as: `PbO_(2(s)) + 4H^(+) + 2e^(-) rarr Pb^(2+) (aq) + 2H_(2)O`
`Pb^(2+) (aq) + SO_(4)^(2-) (aq) rarr PbSO_(4) (s)`. The overall cathode reaction is
`PbO_(2)(s) + 4H^(+) (aq) + SO_(4)^(2- ) (aq) + 2e^(-) rarr PbSO_(4) (s) + 2H_(2)O(l)`
Anode: `Pb(s) + SO_(4)^(2-) (aq) rarr PbSO_(4)(s) + 2e^(-)`
Cathode: `PbO_(2) + 4h^(+) + SO_(4)^(2-) + 2e^(-) rarr PbSO_(4) + 2H_(2)O`
Overall: `Pb(s) + PbO_(2)(s) + 2H_(2)SO_(4) (aq) rarr 2PbSO_(4) (s) + 2H_(2)O(l)`
Cell Representation: `Pb|PbSO_(4) ||H_(2)SO_(4)(aq)||PbO_(2)|Pb`

Uses: 1. It is used to battery
2. It is used in automobiles.
Voltage Uses: This voltage is approximately is 6 to 12 volts
