Corrosion: Corrosion is a process of deterioration of a metal as a result of its reaction with air or water (environment) surrounding it. In the case of iron, Corrosion is called rusting. Chemically, rust is hydrated form of ferric oxide, `Fe_(2)O_(3).x H_(2)O`

The coating of iron with a layer of tin.
Reactions: At Anode (Oxidation) `[Fe rarr Fe^(2+) + 2e^(-)]xx2`
At Cathode (Reduction) `ul(O_(2)+ 2H_(2)O + 4e^(-) rarr 4OH^(-))`
Overall cell reaction `ul(2Fe +O_(2) + 2H_(2)O rarr 2Fe(OH)_(2))`
or `2Fe(OH)_(2)+ (1)/(2) O_(2) + 2H_(2)O rarr underset("Redish Brown")(2Fe(OH)_(3))`
