The rate law for a reaction is Rate ...

The rate law for a reaction is
Rate = `k[A]^(1//2)[B]^2`
Can the reaction be an elementry reaction. Explain.

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Rate = `k [A]^(1/2) [B]^2`
If `r alpha^(n)` is elementary than order = Molecularity (Integer)
So, first of all order of the `r alpha^(n) = 1/2 + 2 = 5/2` which is not integer
So`, ralpha^(n)` cannot be elementary `r alpha^(n)`
