Calculate the molar conductance at infinite dilution `(lambda^om)` of `CaCl_2`,given that molar ionic conductance for `lambda^om(Ca^(2+)) 119.5 and Cl- (76.3) S cm^2mol^(-1)`

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

We know, `lambda^@(CaCl_2) = lambda^@ (Ca^(2+)) + 2lambda^@(Cl^(-))`
`lambda^@(Ca^(2+)) = 119S cm^2 mol^(-1)`
`lambda^@(Cl^(-)) =76.3 S cm^2 mol^(-1)`
So, `lambda^@(CaCl_2) = 119 + 2(76.3)`
` =271.6 S cm^2 mol^(-1)`
