Explain why transition elements have high melting and boiling points ?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Due to presence of unpaired electron in their atoms, transition elements in general, have stronger interatomic interaction and hence stronger bonding between atoms. This stronger bonding between atoms are very strong. As a result in high melting points and boiling points and hence enthalpies of atomisation.
