The earth receives light of different wavelength from the sun. The ozone present in the upper atmosphere layers absorbs the harmful ultra-violet rays. Earth receives other radiations and changes them into infrared rays of higher wavelengths. `CO_2` preseht in the atmosphere absorbs these radiations. This leads to increase in the atmospheric. temperature. This is call greenhouse effect.
