What is crop rotation? How does it replenish soil with nutrients?

Text Solution

Verified by Experts

Crop rotation means growing different crops alternately in same field. Crop rotation replenishes the soil with nutrients. For example, if legumes are grown as fodder in one season and wheat in the next season, then the soil gets replenished with nitrogen.
Rhizobium bacteria present in root nodules of leguminous plants fix atmospheric nitrogen and brings back nitrogen to the soil utilized by wheat plant.
