If the egg is not fertilised, then it is lost after day. The uterus prepares itself to receive a fertilised. The lining of uterus becomes thick and spongy. These slowly breaks and comes out through vagina as blood mucous. This process is called menstruation. So, it ta place when no fertilisation of egg takes place.
